Giti Group Contributes One Million Masks and Financial Support to Combat Covid-19

During these challenging times of need, Singapore-Based Giti Group has been working to support the global community in its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. As part of these efforts, Giti Group/Nuri Holdings has donated One Million surgical masks and SGD $100,000 in cash to the Maskforce Initiative to support foreign workers in Singapore. The surgical masks are produced by Giti Group’s facilities in Putien, China and shipped and distributed to those most in need. Giti is also lending its support and resources to other affected areas around the world.

The Maskforce Initiative has been created a joint effort from companies and organizations to support local efforts in Singapore. It focuses on supporting the foreign worker community, which has been very strongly affected during the on-going health crisis. Because many of the masks are re-usable, they can continue to support the recipients for the longer term. Each surgical mask kit has been arranged to be distributed among foreign worker communities and dormitories, as well as to domestic helpers. In total, the initiative has been very successful in raising more than SGD $850,000, in addition to more than 1.3 million masks.

In addition to the efforts in Singapore, Giti continues to support other local initiatives to benefit health workers and others globally. This includes a campaign by Giti Tire (UK) to donate masks to the NHS staff at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) in early April. Giti Tire is further coordinating with its tire distributors in different countries and regions to support affected communities, as well as supplying its factory workers and other team members with protective equipment and updated information.

"I think there will be more awareness after this episode," said Dr. Enki Tan, executive director of Giti Tire and Nuri Holdings. He added that it is also important to keep doing more to support frontline healthcare workers and others in the wider community, such as small businesses. "Many people are suffering, and we should not forget about them.”
